My postman must think I have a serious online shopping addiction. Every day I get at least a couple of parcels, sometimes more. Then there’s the DPD man and the Hermes woman and the UPS brigade.

I know, I know, I’m lucky — I will never take it for granted. The day I am bored of parcels containing products is the day I look for another job. The volume of send outs is lower in Covid times, which means it’s a good time to make sure your product stands out.

What helps…

1. Making sure the product arrives intact and is not scuffed or damaged in anyway.
2. Keeping the packaging on brand: I have friends who have been on courses instructing them on how to tie the perfect bow. Yes really. An exquisite perfume swaddled bubble wrap and scotch tape instantly devalues it.
3. Having eco awareness: an enormous box for a tiny product feels wasteful. Ditto lots of non-biodegradable packaging.  
4. Making it easy to open: sometimes it’s so challenging to get into a parcel I give up. 
5. Avoiding glitter: nothing fun about tiny silver sprinkles all over your rug.
6. Including information with the product: just helps to have it to hand (stockist, price, it’s USP) in case you want to feature it there and then.

Thank you for sending products out. I appreciate it must be harder in these times, but there is nothing better than having a real product in your hands and being able to look at it, smell it, try it. When it comes to products, seeing them IRL is essential.
