Driven by expensive tickets and high stadium costs, an MLS matchday now averages £129 per game - making it more expensive than any top league in Europe.

- The Premier League: The average cost for English fans has now broken the century mark, sitting at £104 per matchday. This means Premier League fans pay roughly 2.5× more than Bundesliga supporters.
- The Bundesliga: Germany offers elite football for just £41 a match. Because fan-members retain majority voting control under the 50+1 rule, clubs deliberately keep prices affordable.
- Argentina: It is the cheapest country for local club members at just £12, but tourist operators charge international visitors $150–$200+ USD for the exact same experience.

That title belongs to MLS in the United States, where the average matchday now costs £129 - more than anywhere else in the study. The combination of expensive tickets, high food prices, and transport costs means fans in America now pay more to watch domestic football than supporters in England, Spain, or Germany.
Germany has Cracked the Affordability Problem
The Bundesliga is one of the world’s top five leagues - with the highest average stadium attendance on earth - and costs just £41 per match. The 50+1 ownership rule, which requires fan members to retain majority club control, is the structural reason.

At £104 per match, the Premier League costs around two and a half times the Bundesliga, more than twice La Liga, and over twice Serie A.

Some of the “Smaller” Leagues are Shockingly Expensive
