Subject: INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY: Coventry University expert on links between autism and paracetamol after Donald Trump announcement

Donald Trump has advised pregnant women not to take the painkiller Tylenol – known elsewhere as paracetamol – over unfounded links with autism.

The US President said the medication was “not good” as he announced doctors will be advised not to prescribe it to pregnant women in the States.

His claims have been strongly refuted by many with health officials in the UK saying it remains the safest painkiller for women and Health Secretary Wes Streeting urging people to ignore Trump’s comments.

Coventry University lecturer Dr Katherine Hall, an expert in neurodevelopmental disorders, is available for interview and can speak on the following points:

  • The truth on links between autism and paracetamol
  • Why studies to show such a link are difficult to carry out
  • The causes of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders

To arrange an interview with Dr Hall, please email press.mac@coventry.ac.uk
