One in three women may be at risk of developing iron deficiency. Here’s how to check you’re not one of them.

Good afternoon Claudia,

We are reaching out ahead of Iron Deficiency Day (IDD) on 26th November to see whether you would be interested in featuring a symptom checker to raise awareness of the condition with your readers at Women’s Health.

Iron deficiency is serious health concern affecting women of reproductive age in particular, with one in three women aged 15-49 around the world at risk of developing iron deficiency from menstruation, poor nutrition, or pregnancy.

Many women around the world often don’t realise they are iron deficient or are not informed about the longer-term health problems that the disease can contribute to if left undiagnosed or untreated.

Encouraging women to identify their symptoms and advocate for diagnosis and treatment to healthcare professionals is crucial for addressing the impacts of iron deficiency on women’s everyday health and wellbeing - contributing a global paradigm shift about how far iron deficiency, and women’s health issues more broadly, are taken seriously.
