The Best Alt Dips for Taramasalata from Odysea

Hi Ajesh,

I’m sure you’ve seen the frightful news of the taramasalata shortage that has swept the nation – as written about in The GuardianThe FTDaily Mail, and on BBC – due to industrial action at Bakkavor.

Fortunately, Odysea's taramosalata supply has not been affected and is still readily available in Sainsbury's, along with a couple of recently launched alternative dips that are perfect for scooping, spreading, and most importantly, enjoying. So, think twice before abandoning those meze boards, and get yourselves down to your local Sainsbury’s to try something new!

Muhammara – Traditionally made with walnuts, crushed sunflower seeds have instead been used to create an earthy dip, blended with roasted red peppers and tangy pomegranate molasses. Serve with crudité or pitta, spread in your favourite sandwiches, or enjoy alongside grilled meats, fish, and vegetables. RRP £3

Skordalia – The lesser-known Greek classic. Traditionally served in every taverna with bakaliaros (battered cod) or roasted beetroot, this garlicky dip is close to aioli. Made with a thick potato base, this robust dip is calling out for crisps or vegetable crudités, or to be scooped up with toasted pitta in a meze. RRP £3

Representatives from Odysea are available for comment and high-res imagery is available here. Do also let me know if you’d like any samples in this trying time,  and I’ll be happy to organise those for you!

Note to editors: Odysea has retained the authentic Greek spelling of taramosalata with an 'o', as opposed to the more common UK spelling with an 'a'.

Best,

Kat
