About Compression Boots, Dua says "I have just recently bought these compression boots. They're like compression socks but they're boots, so you wear them, and they go all the way up to [upper thigh] and you press a button, and they just squeeze the life out of you. It's the best thing in the world. It'll save you doing the foot massage."

What are Compression Boots?

Compression boots are hollow, fabric boots that cover the feet, lower legs and thighs that contain multiple chambers. Each of these sleeves fills with air, one after the other, to compress, or squeeze, one section of the lower body at a time—starting at the feet and working up towards the hip.

This process is called intermittent pneumatic compression or IPC.

Compex AYRE™ (above, £549.99 compex.com/uk

Feel relief aid anywhere, anytime with Compex® Ayre™ compression boots. Designed for coaches, elite and recreational athletes on-the-go, Ayre is a therapeutic product using intermittent pneumatic compression. When exercising, the body builds up lactate level as a biproduct of muscle contraction. Compex Ayre uses a dynamic pulsing compression up the limbs in waves for the duration of its use, which helps promote quick healing. Sit back, power up the boots, and enjoy your recovery for up to 3 hours anywhere on a single charge.

The Compex Ayre™ were designed with the goal of improving the flush out of “waste” products from the muscle in mind. The theory is that achieving this goal will lead to decreased muscle soreness and improved muscle relaxation occurring in the legs. This method is based on the “good stuff in, bad stuff out” principle.

The “good stuff” (nutrients and O2) is transported in by the capillary system, due to blood pressure and active muscle pump. The “bad stuff” (waste, CO2, lactate, fluids etc) is transported out by the capillary system actively by the heart and active/passive muscle pump, and also out of the lymphatic system by muscle pump & gravity. The compression boots passively support the muscle pump and is mainly focussed on flushing out of the “bad stuff”, mainly lymphatic system.

Ayre™ compression boots promote blood circulation, meaning that oxygen and vital nutrients reach every cell in your body. This can ease symptoms of various circulatory issues, such as swelling and numbness. They are also known for their ability to speed up muscle recovery and ease muscle aches. You will also reduce the risk of muscle injuries by making sure muscles are properly oxygenated and relaxed. The rhythmic compression and relaxation provided by these boots induce a sense of relaxation and wellbeing. It reduces stress and promotes mental clarity, making it an excellent addition to any wellness routine.
